Wapentake was an Anglo-Saxon administrative area containing several villages. The term wapentake was used in the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Nottinghamshire, and in the North and West Ridings of Yorkshire. Wapentakes were also sometimes known as hundreds.
