Viacom Inc. is a major media and communications company. It produces and distributes feature films through its motion-picture division, Paramount Pictures Corporation. It owns a number of popular cable television channels, including BET (Black Entertainment Television), CMT (Country Music Television), Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Spike TV, TV Land, and VH1. Viacom also owns Famous Music Corporation, a music publisher, and Paramount Home Entertainment Inc., a distributor of films on DVD and videocassette. In early 2006, Paramount Pictures acquired DreamWorks SKG, a leading film and television production studio. Later in 2006, Viacom struck deals with online-search companies Google and Baidu to provide video that would be shown over the Internet. The deal with Baidu, a company known as China's Google, gave Viacom access to the the world's fastest-growing Internet market.
