Cornplanter (1750?-1836) was a Seneca Indian leader. He supported Britain during the Revolutionary War in America (1775-1783). But in the 1780's and 1790's, Cornplanter helped prevent the Seneca from fighting in wars between Midwestern Indians and the United States government. In 1791, the Pennsylvania legislature rewarded his efforts to keep the Seneca out of the wars by granting him a large area of land on the Allegheny River.
