Triceratops, try SEHR uh tops, was a large, horned, plant-eating dinosaur that lived about 65 million years ago in what is now western North America. The name Triceratops means three-horned face. The dinosaur had two horns over its eyes and one horn on its nose. Triceratops was about 25 feet (7.6 meters) long, stood about 9 1/2 feet (2.9 meters) tall at the hips, and weighed about 8 short tons (7.3 metric tons).
