Lombardi, lom BAHR dee, Vince (1913-1970), became one of the most successful coaches in National Football League (NFL) history. Lombardi served as head coach and general manager of the Green Bay Packers for nine seasons beginning in 1959. He remained as general manager of the Packers in 1968.
