Solander, Daniel Charles (1733-1782), was a Swedish naturalist. The English naturalist Sir Joseph Banks hired Solander in 1768 as a scientific assistant on the English navigator James Cook's first voyage of exploration. Solander became Banks's secretary and librarian, and worked with him on several natural history projects.
