Sligo (pop. 18,473) is the county town of County Sligo in western Ireland. It is the second largest town in the province of Connacht. The town lies on a plain by the River Garavogue, between Lough Gill and the sea. Sligo has an airport and a good harbor. Sligo has a number of industries, including fishing, making dies and tools, and meat processing. Other local products include clocks, hospital supplies, scales, videotapes, and women's clothing.
