Siple, SY puhl, Paul Allman (1908-1968), was an American Antarctic explorer and geographer. While a Boy Scout, Siple was a member of Richard E. Byrd's first Antarctic expedition in 1928. He headed the biology department on the second Byrd expedition from 1933 to 1935, and was geographer for the U.S. expedition from 1939 to 1941. In 1942, he joined the Department of War (now the Department of the Army). Siple went on major expeditions from 1946 to 1957, and was scientific leader of the South Polar Station in 1956 and 1957. Siple was born in Montpelier, Ohio.
