Seadragon is the common name for two kinds of fish that resemble their relatives, the seahorses. Both species, the weedy (or common) seadragon and the leafy seadragon, inhabit reefs off southern Australia. Like seahorses, seadragons have bony-plated skin and a long snout. But seadragons generally grow larger than seahorses, and they possess flatter bodies fringed with unusual skin flaps. Both seadragon species resemble seaweed, which enables them to hide from predators.
