Schneider Trophy was the prize cup awarded to the winner of a seaplane race during the early days of aviation. The race was held in many countries. Jacques Schneider, a French armaments maker, donated the cup for the competition. The French pilot Maurice Prevost won the first race in 1913 at an average speed of 45.75 miles (73.63 kilometers) per hour.
