Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is the national law enforcement department of Canada. The fame of the Mounted Police has spread throughout the world since the force was organized in 1873. Today, the Mounted Police travel in motor vehicles instead of on horses. But the heroic men on horseback still live in the many books and motion pictures about them. The badge of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police bears the organization's motto, Maintiens le droit (Maintain the right).
