Robertson, Sir Dennis (1890-1963), an English economist, played an important part in organizing the Bretton Woods Conference. This conference set up the World Bank in 1944. Robertson's investigation into the relationship between money supplies and savings, Banking Policy and the Price Level (1926), anticipated the later work of the British economist John Maynard Keynes (see Keynes, John Maynard). Robertson was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, on May 23, 1890. He was educated at Eton College and Cambridge University. He was knighted in 1953. He died on April 21, 1963.
