Lake Frome is one of a chain of salt lakes in the northeastern corner of South Australia. It lies about 160 miles (257 kilometers) northeast of Port Pirie, in a sparsely populated livestock-raising area. The lake is about 60 miles (96 kilometers) long by 30 miles (48 kilometers) wide, and it is dry for most of the year.
