Pasadena, Texas, a city in Harris County. It is on the Houston Ship Channel about 10 miles (16 km) east of downtown Houston, of which it is an industrial suburb. The city has oil refineries and paper mills, and it produces chemicals, rubber, plastics, and petrochemicals. Granite markers designate the site of the capture of Mexican General Santa Anna by General Sam Houston in 1836. Pasadena was settled in 1895 and was named after the city in California.
