O Canada is the national anthem of Canada. The Canadian Parliament adopted the song as the national anthem on June 27, 1980. Calixa Lavallee, a Canadian musician, composed the music in 1880. The song has both French and English lyrics. Sir Adolphe Basile Routhier, a Canadian judge, wrote the French lyrics in 1880. Another Canadian judge, Robert Stanley Weir, wrote the English words in 1908. In 1968, some of the wording in the English version was changed. The English lyrics are not a translation of the French lyrics.
