National budget is the financial plan for a nation's government. The budget forecasts the government's income and expenditures for one fiscal year (from October 1 to September 30 in the United States). It forecasts how much money the government will collect from taxes and other sources, and suggests how much money each government department should spend. In the United States, the Office of Management and Budget prepares the federal budget, and the congressional budget committee reviews and amends it.
