Miers, MY uhrz, Harriet Ellan (1945-...), was nominated in early October 2005 to serve as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Miers withdrew her nomination later that month after facing criticism about her qualifications. President George W. Bush had named her to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
