Meigs, megz, Cornelia Lynde (1884-1973), an American author, wrote more than two dozen books for children. Most of them are based on incidents in American history. In 1934, she won the Newbery Medal for Invincible Louisa, the life of Louisa May Alcott. Her other works include Kingdom of the Winding Road (1915), Rain on the Roof (1925), The Trade Wind (1927), and As the Crow Flies (1927). Meigs wrote many of her books under the pen name Adair Aldon. She was editor in chief and coauthor of A Critical History of Children's Literature (1953). She also wrote a play, The Steadfast Princess (1915).
