Maynooth (pop. 10,151) is a town in County Kildare, in the Republic of Ireland. It lies 14 miles (23 kilometers) west of Dublin. It is noted for its college and castle. St. Patrick's College is the national seminary for students of the Roman Catholic priesthood. It is also a constituent college of the National University of Ireland. The college was founded in 1795. A massive keep and several towers are all that remain of Maynooth Castle, built in the 1200's.
