Mayakovsky, Vladimir, muh yih KAWF skee, VLAD uh mihr or vlah DEE mihr (1893-1930), was a Russian poet and propagandist. He became famous as a poet during the Russian Revolution of 1917. He was also known as a love poet and a political and social satirist. As a young man, he became involved in the movement for social democracy during the reign of Czar Nicholas II (1895-1917).
