Manning, Peyton (1976-...), ranks as one of the greatest passers in American professional football history. Manning, a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, is known for his accuracy as a passer and the strength of his arm. On Dec. 26, 2004, Manning threw his 49th touchdown pass of the 2004-2005 season, breaking the National Football League (NFL) single-season record of 48 touchdown passes. That record had been set by Dan Marino during the 1984-1985 season. Manning led the NFL in completed passes and passing yardage for the 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 seasons. Manning shared the NFL Most Valuable Player award for the 2003-2004 season with quarterback Steve McNair of the Tennessee Titans. Manning was voted the NFL's Most Valuable Player for the 2004-2005 season. He led his team to victory in the 2007 Super Bowl as the Colts defeated the Chicago Bears, 29-17. Manning was named the Most Valuable Player in the Super Bowl.
