Kermadec Islands are a group of rocky islands about 600 miles (965 kilometers) north of Auckland, New Zealand. A New Zealand dependency, the islands are administered by the New Zealand Lands and Survey Department. Raoul, the largest island, is unsuitable for permanent settlement because of volcanic eruptions.
