John, Barry (1945-...), a Welsh Rugby Union player, won fame as the most outstanding British player of his time. He played at outside half for Llanelli and Cardiff rugby football clubs during the 1960's and 1970's. In 20 appearances for Wales, he scored 90 points in international games. John also played for the British Lions touring side. John was born on Jan. 6, 1945, in Cefneithen, near Cross Hands, Dyfed. As a rugby player, he became known for his skillful running, his brilliance at scoring drop goals, and his place kicking. He retired from international rugby in 1972.
