Irvington, New Jersey, a town in Essex County just west of Newark. It is part of Newark's heavily industrialized metropolitan area, and has factories that make electrical equipment and machine tools. Irvington was settled in 1692 as Camptown, and renamed for Washington Irving in 1852. It has the mayor-council type of government.
