Hutchinson, Tim (1949-...), a Republican from Arkansas, was a member of the United States Senate from 1997 to 2003. He was the first Republican ever to be elected to the Senate by the voters of Arkansas. From 1993 to 1997, Hutchinson had served in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he worked on legislation to reduce the federal deficit and to change the welfare system.
