Hay Point is an Australian port about 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of Mackay in Queensland. It receives, stores, and exports coal from the Bowen Basin mines. The port was opened in 1971, with the capacity to handle about 22 million tons (20 million metric tons) of coal a year.
