Hailsham, Lord (1907-2001), Quintin McGarel Hogg, served as lord chancellor (leader of the House of Lords) in the United Kingdom from 1970 to 1974 and from 1979 to 1987. He held several ministerial posts in the Conservative governments of the late 1950's and early 1960's, particularly dealing with education and science.
