Gunnell, Sally (1966-...), was an outstanding British hurdler in the 400 meters event (see Hurdling). She won a gold medal in the 1992 Olympic Games. Gunnell became world champion in 1993 with a record-breaking time of 52.74 seconds. She also took gold medals in the Commonwealth Games in 1990 and 1994, and she won the 1994 European Championships.
