Green Bank Telescope is one of the largest and most sensitive radio telescopes in the world. It is also one of the world's largest movable structures; its dish antenna is more than 100 meters (330 feet) across. The National Radio Astronomy Observatory operates the telescope for the National Science Foundation, an independent agency of the United States government. The telescope began operating in 2001.
