Good Templars, International Organization of, is an organization founded in Utica, New York, in 1851, to promote temperance, peace, and brotherhood. It has chapters and groups in the United States and 40 other countries. Membership is open to all people, regardless of ethnic origin or religious beliefs. The organization publishes The Globe, a magazine on alcohol and drug problems. International headquarters are in London. The U.S. national division, with headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, publishes the National Good Templar magazine.
