Giannini, jahn NEE nee, Amadeo Peter (1870-1949), an American businessman, founded one of the largest commercial banks in the United States. In 1904, Giannini founded the Bank of Italy in San Francisco. He bought many other banks and formed a huge branch banking system. The Bank of Italy became the Bank of America in 1930. Giannini was born in San Jose, California.
