Fort McClellan, muh KLEHL uhn, was a United States Army training center in Alabama. It was established in 1917 and was named for Major General George B. McClellan, who served as commander of Union forces during the early years of the American Civil War (1861-1865). The fort covered about 47,000 acres (19,000 hectares) northeast of Anniston.
