Farmer, Fannie Merritt (1857-1915), an American cooking expert, was called the Mother of Level Measurements. She started Miss Farmer's School of Cookery in Boston in 1902, teaching dietetics, kitchen management, and cooking. She provided lecturers for nearly 20 New England hospitals and weekly demonstrations for Boston housewives. Her Boston Cooking School Cook Book (1896) was in its 21st edition at her death. She was born in Boston.
