European Economic Area (EEA) is a large free-trade area that came into force on Jan. 1, 1994. The EEA agreement is a trading and economic pact between all the members of the European Union (EU) and two members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), Norway and Iceland. Liechtenstein joined the EEA on May 1, 1995.
