Ervine, St. John (1883-1971), an Irish novelist and dramatist, is best known for his novel Mrs. Martin's Man (1914) and the plays Mixed Marriage (1911), Anthony and Anna (1926), and Robert's Wife (1937). St. John Greer Ervine was born in Belfast. He was manager of the Abbey Theatre, in Dublin, in 1915 and 1916. He also worked as a drama critic.
