Dneproges Dam is a large concrete dam in Ukraine. It stands on the Dnieper River, about 200 miles (320 kilometers) from the river's mouth. The dam provides hydroelectric power for most of the mines and industries in Ukraine. The dam is 5,000 feet (1,500 meters) long and 200 feet (61 meters) high. It was completed in 1932. When the Germans invaded Ukraine in 1941, the Communists blew up the dam and the power plant. They were later rebuilt.
