Dice are small cubes used in such games of chance as craps. Dice are also used in playing backgammon, Monopoly, and other board games. A single cube is called a die. Each die has six sides, with each side imprinted with one to six dots. In most games, two dice are used. Players roll the dice on a craps table or other flat surface. When the dice stop rolling, the total number of dots on the top side of both dice determines the number used for that particular turn. Random chance, not skill, decides which numbers appear on the dice.
