Cuthbert, Betty (1938-...), an Australian track star, won four gold medals at Olympic Games. In 1956, at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia, Cuthbert won three gold medals. She won the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints and was a member of the women's team that won the 400-meter relay. Between 1956 and 1963, she set world records for distances ranging from 60 meters to 440 yards. A torn muscle in 1960 forced her into two years of inactivity. In 1964, Cuthbert won her fourth gold medal in the 400-meter run at the Tokyo Olympics. She retired after winning this race. Cuthbert was born on April 20, 1938, in Sydney.
