Congress of the Confederation is the name sometimes used for the national legislature established by the Articles of Confederation. Also known as the Confederation Congress, the body operated the U.S. government from March 1, 1781, to March 4, 1789. The group's official title was the United States in Congress Assembled. But it replaced the Continental Congress, and many people continued to call it that. The Congress of the Confederation was replaced by the Congress established by the U.S. Constitution.
