Conference of Catholic Bishops, United States, is a Roman Catholic organization that conducts welfare work at home and abroad, aids education, cares for immigrants, and promotes and carries on other Roman Catholic activities. Catholic bishops in the United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands make up the conference. The conference developed from the National Catholic Welfare Council, which was established in 1919. It has headquarters in Washington, D.C. It also has a small Office of Film and Broadcasting in New York City and a branch office of Migration and Refugee Services in Miami, Florida.
