Chauncy, Nan (1900-1970), was an Australian children's author. The background in nearly all her books is the rugged Tasmanian bush country and shoreline where she lived most of her life. She won the Australian Children's Book Council Book of the Year Award three times, with Tiger in the Bush (1958), Devil's Hill (1959), and Tangara (1961). In 1962, Tangara was included in the European Hans Christian Andersen Honour List.
