Charlton, Boy (1907-1975), was an outstanding Australian swimmer during the 1920's. During his career, he set or tied numerous world records. In 1924, he defeated the famous record-setting Swedish swimmer Arne Borg in races of 220, 440, and 880 yards in Sydney. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, Charlton won gold medal in the 1,500-meter freestyle in a world record time. He won silver medals in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle races in the 1928 Olympic Games.
