Chandor, Douglas Granville (1897-1953), a British artist, painted portraits of many famous and fashionable people. His portrait of the Prince of Wales in 1921 established his reputation. His later subjects included United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, and American financier Bernard M. Baruch. Chandor was born in Woldingham, Surrey, on Aug. 20, 1897, and immigrated to the United States in 1926. He died on Jan. 13, 1953.
