Beveridge, BEHV ur ihj, Albert Jeremiah (1862-1927), an American statesman and historian, won the 1920 Pulitzer Prize for his book The Life of John Marshall. He was writing a life of Abraham Lincoln when he died. Two volumes of the work were published. He served as a Republican United States senator from Indiana from 1899 to 1911. In 1912, he became a leader in the Progressive Party, which nominated Theodore Roosevelt for president. Beveridge was born on a farm in Highland County, Ohio.
