Beaglehole, J. C. (1901-1971), a New Zealand historian, was professor of British Commonwealth history at the Victoria University of Wellington, on the North Island of New Zealand, from 1963 to 1966. His historical publications include The Exploration of the Pacific (1934), The Discovery of New Zealand (1939), and editions of journals of the British explorer James Cook, and the British naturalist Sir Joseph Banks.
