Banbridge (pop. 41,392) is a local government district in Northern Ireland. The market town of Banbridge is its administrative center. Banbridge town lies on the River Bann. Its main street is at a lower level than its side streets and is linked to them by a bridge. The district's many industries include textile production, chiefly at Dromore; linen stitching and dyeing; shoemaking; and light engineering. Banbridge's farmers raise dairy cattle, hogs, and poultry. Chief crops include root crops and seed grasses.
