Babson, Roger Ward (1875-1967), an American statistician, founded Babson's Statistical Organization in 1904 to gather information useful to business. He won fame when he predicted the 1929 economic crash. He also founded Webber College (now Webber International University) for women in Florida, and the Babson Institute (now Babson College) in Massachusetts to train people for business careers. Babson wrote 35 books on such subjects as statistics, economics, investment, religion, and character building. He was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, on July 6, 1875. He died on March 5, 1967.
