Australian Flying Corps (AFC) was the first air force in Australia. The Australian government established the AFC in 1916. From 1916 to 1918, during World War I, four squadrons of the AFC fought in the Middle East and in France. After World War I, the AFC was disbanded. In 1921, the government established the Royal Australian Air Force. See also World War I.
