Aulard, Francois Victor Alphonse, oh lahr, frahn SWAH veek TAWR ahl FAWNS (1849-1928), a noted French historian, made a great reputation by his work on source material of the French Revolution. He published many volumes of sources. His best-known work is the Political History of the French Revolution (1901), which emphasized the French reaction to opinions and interference from other nations during the revolution. Aulard was born at Montbron. In 1886 he became the first professor of the history of the French Revolution at the Sorbonne in Paris.
