Arran is an island in North Ayrshire, Scotland. It lies in the Firth of Clyde and is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) long and 10 miles (16 kilometers) wide. Its superb scenery makes it a popular tourist resort. Visitors reach Arran by boat from Ardrossan, Gourock, or Fairlie. The chief town on the island is Brodick.
